I and the Bird #39 and #40
I’ve been rather busy in recent weeks. I do relief driving for a friend who runs a local courier business. Just before Christmas he needed an operation which meant an enforced break for about four weeks. The job takes up most of the day, from 7am to nearly 10pm with just a short lunch and dinner break. This leaves very little time for birding and little time for blogging. Many of my recent posts were written well before Christmas.
Life is now returning to normal. A few days ago, however, I realised I’d missed the submission dates for I and the Bird Carnivals #39 AND #40. Never mind, I’ve still got a few days to submit for #41.
Here are the links for the two I missed:
- I and the bird #39: A visit from Sandy Claws on Natural Visions Photography and Birding
- I and the Bird #40: compiled by Peregrine’s Bird blog in Northern Ireland.
I and the Bird #38
The latest issue of the birding carnival I and the Bird, now in its 38th edition, has come to visit Australia.
Duncan, who lives in south eastern Victoria, has hosted this week’s edition. I’d encourage you to visit his blog and enjoy being taken on a birding journey around the world.
And of course I have made a contribution to this current edition.

I and the Bird #37
The latest edition of the birding carnival I and the Bird has been posted over at Five Wells. This carnival is all about birds from all over the world. It’s worth stopping by and having a look.
As usual, I have made a contribution as part of the carnival.

A Snail’s Eye View of Birds and other Things
I’ve recently started reading a blog called A Snail’s Eye View. Now that’s an interesting perspective on life.
Anyway – it’s…. An occasional blog about natural history, travel, books and writing … and anything else that catches my attention.
And the natural history part is often about birds.

Drew Fulton, and American naturalist and birder, has just announced his itinerary for travelling throughout Australia over the twelve months commencing on 26th July. His aim is to cover as much of Australia as he can during his year long stay here, photographing and journalling his travels and experiences.
Drew is planning on writing and posting a daily journal of his travels as well as a monthly emailed newsletter. Having spent a little time looking at his photos on his web site, we are in for a treat as he attempts to capture many Australian species on his camera.
