Great Birding Moments # 29 Crested Pigeon
Sometimes things just go right.
I have spent many frustrating hours chasing – or waiting – for birds to sit just right for a photograph. Just the right pose, at the right angle, with the right light and everything in focus. It doesn’t always happen. Quite often in fact.
So when it all comes together and all the conditions are right AND the photo turns out nicely, it is a bonus. It becomes one of those Great Birding Moments. The pigeon in the photo above came for a drink at the bird bath. It must have seen me moving in the sun-room preparing to take its photo. It almost looks as if it was trying to pose for me. Good one Trevor! It’s a great feeling when it all comes together in a great shot, although I’ve learnt to curb my enthusiasm until I finally see it on the computer screen! Helps to forget the ‘might of beens’ that happen so often, and by blogging the shots, you can share the moment with others.
Thanks Alan. I too, wait until I see the finished image on the computer screen before getting too carried away. Sometimes I need ten or more shots to get that one special one that is worth sharing with the world. That is the beauty of digital cameras – I tend to take heaps and then eliminate all the duds and not so interesting ones when working on them on the computer. It’s almost now to the point where I need another hard drive just to store photos.
